Our StaffMaking It Happen
Sylvie Meltzer joined the Satellite Foundation team just six months ago as the new Program Director. Sylvie's background has been mostly as a teaching artist in education and community work here in Melbourne and also for many years in India and China. Creating dialogues and connections in collaborative, creative and supportive ways is something she feels incredibly strongly about. Sylvie feels so excited and honoured to be part of this community of people who are so dedicated to and passionate about changing the outcomes for young people who join our ‘Satellite family’ in such unique and caring ways. Everyday she is learning, and everyday she is grateful for the opportunity to do so. Sylvie's other passions are hanging out with her larger than life toddler, planning adventures and the anything that is hot pink.
Lived Experience Coordinator
The amazing Laura is our Lived Experience Coordinator. Laura took part in Satellite’s 2017 Young Leader Program, but before that she hadn’t realised that services or organisations existed to support young people who, like her, grew up with a parent with mental health difficulties. Being involved with Satellite and as a consequence, Families Where a Parent Has a Mental Illness (FaPMI), has changed her life. Laura has met so many inspirational individuals and is now able to use her experiences for good. In her role at Satellite, Laura hopes to connect to more young people and raise our profile as an organisation, so that more people know about us. Laura is also going to be involved in facilitating some of Satellite's upcoming programs, including another Young Leader Program in March 2019.
Gill Greenstein works with Satellite foundation as a financial consultant. Gill has a background in working with small and medium size businesses in the public and private sectors, designing and administering financial solutions. Gill was delighted to be given the opportunity to help with developing a sustainable organisation that supports the expanding community of dedicated and heartfelt people who are pivotal in empowering young people to transform their lives. In her spare time, besides tending to an ever-expanding veggie garden, Gill volunteers as a cook at the Darebin Community Kitchen.
