Madeline: Finding Her People, Thanks to You

20 April 2026

I think I may have found my people,” Madeline shared after joining Satellite Connect. Growing up with family mental health challenges and deep loneliness, she found connection and confidence. Your support helps make life-changing connections like this possible.

Madeline, 19, grew up in a home affected by mental health challenges. These experiences shaped her early years and made it difficult to trust others. By the time she reached adulthood, she felt isolated and unsure how to build meaningful relationships.

That changed when she joined a Satellite program.

Thanks to your support, Madeline found a space designed for young people navigating similar experiences. From early on, she noticed something different: “I think I may have found my people.” The program’s thoughtful environment – complete with fairy lights, snacks, and safe ways to express emotions – helped her feel welcome and understood.

Each week, Madeline grew more confident. Through creative activities, shared dinners, and open conversations, she began to connect with others who truly “got it.” Satellite staff also helped her access mental health services, guiding her through the process with care and compassion.

“I hadn’t laughed in quite a long time,” she shared. “But others were able to make me laugh, and I was able to make them laugh.” Today, Madeline is seeing a psychologist, practicing self-awareness, and continuing to grow in confidence.

“I don’t know how to ever explain how grateful and thankful I am,” she says.

Generosity from people like you makes this possible. Thank you.
