‘It honestly changed my life’- Ren’s Journey
19 January 2026
At 11, Ren was quietly carrying the emotional weight of her family’s mental health challenges. “I was trying to make my family stable, make my sister feel happy, make my mum feel happy. It was a lot,” she recalls.
Everything changed when Ren found Satellite Foundation. “It was the first time I’d seen mental health approached in a non-clinical way. …it’s something I needed desperately.”
Through creative programs and retreats, Ren connected with others who understood her experience. She found confidence, community, and a sense of purpose.
Now, Ren is a peer facilitator, mentoring other young carers. “It’s just really quite healing and very meaningful. …I see myself in so many of these young people.”
Ren’s journey from isolation to leadership is a powerful example of what your support makes possible. You’re helping young people feel seen, supported, and inspired to lead.
Thank you for being part of Ren’s story – and so many others.
