Inside the National Carers Week 2025 Victorian Celebration at Parliament House
20 October 2025
Last week, Satellite Foundation had the privilege of attending the National Carers Week 2025 Victorian Celebration event at Parliament House.
This year National Carers Week was celebrated from 12 to 18 October. It commemorates and celebrates more than 3 million Australians who provide care and support to a family member or friend. This event recognised all carers, bringing together many organisations across the carers sector.
Representing our team were Rose Cuff, Satellite CEO; Jasmine Casey, a representative of Satellite YAC; and Leanne Vuong, Satellite’s Project Lead.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Commissioner Jacqueline Gibson, was also present and emphasised that the state’s mental health system would suffer greatly without carers.
In her words:
“We know how important our carers are in helping the recovery journey of the people that we love and care for.”
Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to connect with Minister Rose Spence, MPs Sarah Connolly and Steve McGhie, Premier Jacinta Allan, Maddy Buchner (Little Dreamers CEO), and Jo Tilkeridis (Tandem General Manager of Advocacy, Research & Insights).

Events like these remind us of the power of connection, recognition and advocacy. Satellite will continue working with partners, government and communities to ensure carers (especially young people) are seen, supported and heard.
