Satellite facilitates co-creation workshop in regional Victoria
Satellite Foundation facilitated a co-creation workshop with young people at LaTrobe Youth Space last Tuesday 2 June, as part of the StigmaBeat research project.
Our Projects Lead, Leanne, and Creative Direction Lead, Madeleine, facilitated the workshop alongside long-time Satellite supporter and lead StigmaBeat researcher Dr Rochelle Hines. The workshop brought together young people from the local area to share their insights and experiences.
It included a mix of interactive activities including word association, visual association and discussions of autoethnography study findings. These activities gave us important insights that will be turned into a practical resource to supplement the study.
What is StigmaBeat?
StigmaBeat is a dynamic, youth-led, storytelling project that aims to create positive social change to end the stigma that is often associated with mental ill health. Co-created with young people from Gippsland, Monash University (Monash Rural Health) and Satellite Foundation, these films share the participants’ insights and perspectives on the various kinds of stigma they experience day-to-day.

A big thank you to the young people who contributed their time and lived and living experience, as well as to LaTrobe Youth Space for providing such a comfortable space for us to work in.
Here are some photos from the day.
