Satellite Foundation Supports Treaty for Victoria
8 July 2025
Satellite Foundation proudly pledges our support to the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria on the path to Treaty. We stand in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in their ongoing pursuit of justice, recognition, and self-determination.
In July 2025, the Victorian Government under Premier Jacinta Allan announced its intention to introduce landmark Treaty legislation. This historic bill will establish the First Peoples’ Assembly as a permanent advisory body to the Victorian Parliament, embedding First Nations voices at the heart of decision-making in the state.
Since its formation in 2018, the First People’s Assembly has provided crucial representation for Traditional Owners and First Peoples in progressing Treaty conversations in Victoria.
Satellite Foundation walks alongside the First Peoples’ Assembly in this journey, maintaining deep respect for the sovereignty, cultures, and rights of First Nations peoples across this continent.
As part of our commitment, we pledge to:
- Support dialogue and partnership between First Nations peoples and non-Indigenous communities and organisations – especially those within our local networks and areas of influence.
- Invest in cultural learning and capacity building, ensuring our staff have access to education on Treaty processes, First Nations histories, and cultural competency.
- Deepen our cultural protocols, including a renewed commitment to Acknowledgement of Country that explicitly includes support for Treaty.
- Raise awareness through our platforms – embedding Treaty messaging across internal and external communications, from email signatures to posters in our shared spaces.
We believe that Treaty is a collective responsibility. When organisations stand up, speak out, and act in solidarity, we strengthen the movement and amplify the voices of those who have fought for generations to be heard.
By making this pledge, we affirm our commitment to the self-determination of First Peoples in Victoria as they assert their rights, tell their truths, and chart a path towards, and healing through, Treaty-making.
