Satellite Foundation Welcomes Cotton On Foundation Guests to Explore Collaboration Under Kindness in Community Grant

Satellite was recently awarded the Kindness in Community Fund Grant, an initiative co-founded by Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. Originally established in the US in 2022, the Kindness in Community Fund expanded globally in 2024, thanks to the generous support of the Cotton On Foundation. The Kindness in Community Fund Grant is part of Lady Gaga’s broader efforts to support mental health and community well-being by contributing to a “kinder, braver world”. Kindness in Community focuses on providing funding to organisations that offer free, accessible resources to proactively support youth mental health.

“Kindness has the power to change someone’s day, maybe even their life, for the better.” Lady Gaga, co-founder, Born This Way Foundation

In late 2023, the Cotton On Foundation and the Born This Way Foundation invited the public to submit nominations for the Kindness in Community Fund Grant. This initiative encouraged individuals and organisations to nominate projects or community-driven efforts that reflected the values of kindness, inclusivity, and mental health advocacy. Over 1,900 nominations were submitted, with more than 75% coming from youth. Young people were actively involved throughout the process, from nominating and reviewing projects to creating the shortlist and making the final selection. The Born This Way Foundation made the final decisions alongside their international Youth Advisory Board. In July 2024, Satellite Foundation was thrilled to learn we were one of 65 global recipients of this incredible grant!

In October 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting two special guests from Cotton On Foundation, Gemma and Sarah, at our Satellite office!

Gemma and Sarah our office for a tour and to learn more about the vital work we do. During their visit, they had the opportunity to chat with Gum Mamur, our Community and Engagement Liaison, to discuss the impactful work of our Engagement team. Gemma and Sarah also spent time connecting with our Co-Creative Director, Madeleine Griffith, and Kelly Lai, our Director of Creativity, Development, and Growth, to explore how we will collaborate under the Kindness in Community Fund Grant. It was a meaningful visit where they saw firsthand how their support is making a difference and gained a deeper understanding of our programs and initiatives. Thank you for visiting, Gemma & Sarah!
