Wrapping Up Mental Health Month at Satellite
30 October 2025
As Mental Health Month draws to a close, we are taking a moment to reflect on a truly impactful month. It’s been a period filled with connection, creativity, and the unwavering spirit of our community. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, creating spaces where young people with caring roles feel seen, heard, and supported.
Join us as we look back at some of the highlights:
‘Connected Voices’: Our Community Zine celebrating Mental Health Month
We kicked off the month with the launch of our digital campaign, ‘Connected Voices.’ This powerful initiative saw us collaborate directly with our wonderful community to co-create a brand-new zine. It’s a testament to the diverse experiences and creative spirits within our network, providing a platform for shared stories and collective strength. Our digital version is now available for everyone who wants to see our community’s creative work. Download the zine here.

Celebrating Mental Health Day with Lis
On World Mental Health Day, we were honored to share a series of inspiring videos featuring Lis, one of Satellite’s incredible young participants. Her story beautifully encapsulated resilience, hope, and the journey towards well-being, resonating deeply with our audience and highlighting the importance of every voice. Watch the episodes on our Instagram channel.
Commemorating National Carers Week with Hannah and Rose
Satellite’s CEO, Rose Cuff, sat down with Hannah, Satellite’s Lead Facilitator and someone with lived experience as a young carer, for a deeper conversation about caring across different stages of life. You can watch the videos here.
Junk Journalling for Mental Health Month
To celebrate Mental Health Month 2025, Satellite teamed up with Sami Jenkins (aka Wiltyplant) from Wilty Meetups for a Junk Journalling Workshop centered on creativity and connection.
The event sold out quickly, largely thanks to Sami’s strong community, reflecting her successful focus on creativity and mental wellbeing. Despite the wild Melbourne weather, the Satellite office was buzzing with energy, filled with patterned papers, colourful pens, magazines, and fun stickers.
Over two hours, participants cut, collaged, and shared stories, turning scraps into self-expression. Sami’s signature “Wilty” vibe, warmth, and humour made the night both joyful and meaningful, reminding us that creativity is a powerful tool for mental health.
A huge thank you to Sami for the fantastic session, and to everyone who braved the weather to make it such a bright, inspiring evening at Satellite.

Enhancing Youth Participation and Leadership
Satellite participated in a range of events during Mental Health Month, including the Monash Mental Health Market, Little Dreamers Young Carer Fest, and the Children & Young People at Risk Summit. These opportunities allowed our young cohort to develop their soft skills and advocate for young people in caring roles. Jasmine Casey, a Satellite participant and YAC member, supported various events, and Alison Turner (Ali) served as a key speaker at the Children & Young People at Risk Summit.
Little Dreamers Young Carer Fest
Sarah and Gab from our Engagement team, together with the amazing YAC member Jasmine, were there with a stall full of fun activities!

YAC meeting at Satellite office
Our YAC members are currently participating in a new Satellite project that will soon be revealed. This project offers a valuable opportunity for our YAC members to enhance their communication skills, learn about team collaboration, and gain experience working with the Satellite team.

Children & Young People at Risk Summit.
The event was an amazing, jam-packed day that covered a range of topics. Ali (Satellite YAC member) served as a panelist and did an amazing job encouraging young carers to highlight their strengths and offered valuable insights from a young carer’s perspective.
