What comes to mind when you hear the term “young carer”?
For many students, their role as a young carer at home or within the family can have a significant impact on their well-being, school attendance, and ability to fully engage in their education.
Did you know that:
- 1 in 5 young people provide care for a family member facing mental health challenges?
- 22% of young carers miss school at least once a week due to their caregiving responsibilities?
- On average, there are 1 to 3 young carers in every classroom?
At Satellite Foundation, we are dedicated to amplifying the voices of young people (8-25) across Victoria who care for a family member with mental health challenges. Our mission is long-term support, offering a variety of in-person and online programs, workshops, activities, and projects designed to help build a supportive community for these young individuals.
What we offer:
- Free access to all our resources at Satellite Foundation
- Light touch mental health and wellbeing discussions
- Peer connection and social activities
- Creative outlets for self-expression
Curious about how you can better support students who may be young carers? Let’s connect!
